CASAs are specially trained volunteers who serve as officers of the court. These volunteer advocates are assigned by judges to speak on behalf of a child who has been placed in foster care due to abuse or neglect. . A CASA advocate is a child's voice in court, representing the child's best interest with a goal to expedite the process of seeking a safe, permanent home for the child.
Last year, VYJ’s CASA program served 541 children with 222 volunteer advocates.
